Sam Gray of Boulder CO graduated from the University of Colorado in May of 2013 with degrees in Economics and International Affairs, skills that are a good fit with what he is doing now.
Not long after graduating, Sam Gray of Boulder CO volunteered for the Peace Corps. He is currently in the early stages of a two-year stint in the Dominican Republic, where he is working closely with an ecotourism project on the Laguna Limon, part of a Wildlife Refuge in the northeast part of the country. "Sam reports that the area is spectacularly beautiful," says a friend, "and part of his job now is to get the word out to people to come to the area."
As Sam Gray of Boulder CO knows, Peace Corps volunteers represent the United States abroad as they work in a wide variety of positions. They work in many different areas, depending on the needs of the host country, including agriculture, education, health, community economic development, environment, and youth in development.
Life in the Dominican Republic is like nothing that Sam Gray of Boulder CO has ever experienced before. As he knows, the Peace Corps offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the world, and bring the benefits of that experience back home. Few Peace Corps volunteers return from the experience unchanged; the personal and professional rewards of Peace Corps service last a lifetime.
Like all Peace Corps volunteers, Sam Gray of Boulder CO is living with a host family while he is in-country. In his case, he is staying with a host family in the small coastal village of Laguna Limon. He has been greatly impressed with what he has seen of the Dominican Republic in the time that he has been there.
